Handy Andy Oxford BBQ

Fellow blogger Ian recommended I try this place as I was driving through Mississippi. The name says grocery and barbeque place, but its much more of a barbeque place than a grocery. This is your typical southern, order at the counter, friendly help, humbly decorated barbeque place. I got the pulled pork sandwich with baked beans and potato salad and it was excellent. Thanks Ian!

The portions were generous, the pulled pork hardly had any fat on it, the potato salad was smooth and consistant, and the baked beans tasted home made. The only bad part was they were out of fried pies. I took a picture of where they were supposed to be. Ian told me it was as important that I try a fried pie as it was that I eat the barbeque. He must have been right because they were sold out. The guy behind the counter could not have been nicer and took pitty on me missing the dessert, so he brought me a strawberry pudding on the house. Thank you! I had never had strawberry pudding. Imagine banana pudding, remove the bananas, replace them with strawberries, and that was it. It was very good, thick with lots of vannila wafers, and served in a dixie cup. Is there anything more southern than dessert served in a dixie cup? Or anything served in a dixie cup? I highly recommend this place if you are ever in town for an Ole Miss game.
