Leo & Susie’s Famous Green Top Barbecue Cafe
On a recent trip to Mississippi for Oxford’s famous Double Decker weekend, I stopped off at one of my favorite BBQ joints. Leo & Susie’s Famous Green Top Barbecue Cafe brings back so many fond memories. I grew up in Atlanta and went to School at Ole Miss. I made that drive for 5 years back and forth and very rarely did I ever miss the chance to stop off at Leo & Susie’s Famous Green Top Barbecue. To be completely honest, it is not the largest sandwich or the most spectacular pork that I ever had…But what Leo & Susie’s has is character, tradition and if I was to describe what a good southern bbq joint should be like…well I believe I would describe Green Top..
I hope that Leo & Susie’s Barbecue is around for a long time…With the new highway going to Memphis from Birmingham, much of the traffic going by this awesome BBQ restaurant has slowed. If you get a chance and are willing to drive for about 15-20 minute from Birmingham, then go and eat at Leo & Susie’s Barbecue…If you are disappointed, then maybe you should be eating at a Sonny’s type establishment…because Leo & Susie’s Famous Green Top Barbecue is the real deal! Other local attractions around Leo & Susie’s Barbecue I need to mention (not sure if there are still open) would be the Sugar Shack and the Boobie trap….great names right? I hope you enjoy Leo & Susie’s Famous Green Top Barbecue as much as I do.
