On President’s Day as we trekked it back to Atlanta from our adventures, our last stop was Melvin’s Ribs & Que for lunch. I really like this place, and it is more of a traditional sit-down restaurant with comfy booths for dining. One major plus at Melvin’s is the ‘Condiment Station’ which includes little trays so you can load up on pickles and jalapeno peppers to go with your meal…love it! I ordered the small pork sandwich with sweet potato puree and fried okra, while my cohorts mixed in some chili, macaroni & cheese and baked beans. The sweet potatoes were like desert and the fried okra was hot and crunchy…good sides are the key to a complete BBQ restaurant because the meats gotta be good or else it’s just gonna fail. My sandwich came with a healthy dose of their mustard-based sauce on it and was pressed on the griddle to make the bun hot and everything run together!! I tell you, sometimes messy is annoying, but Melvin’s is really doing it right…I still like to add my own sauce though. I recommend this joint to all BBQ lovers, and would definitely go back when I visit next…you know I gotta try the Ribs!!
