Full Moon Bar-B-Que – Brad Nevin

Full Moon Bar-B-Que

As I ‘Rolled’ through Tuscaloosa this past weekend, I was in need of a fix and wanted to get a new review up too. I have been eating Full Moon Bar-B-Que for years in Birmingham, and now one sits right off McFarland Blvd by the University Blvd overpass and DCH Hospital.

These guys do a lot of catering and have a very large menu…it did not take me long to decide on my order though. I had the beef brisket sandwich which comes with pickles and chow chow not to mention a hardy dose of their medium thick, slightly spicy red sauce. For my sides…marinated slaw and baked beans. I tell you, the brisket was piled heavily on this sammy and the sauce was running over the sides…messy but I do not mind at all. The meat was solid, not over cooked and the red sauce plus the chow chow makes for a great taste combination. I love pickles on my sandwiches too! The baked beans were killer…thick and sweet, and the marinated slaw complimented all of these tastes very well…you could put it on a sandwich to really kick it up a notch. In the past, I have been pleased with their pork as well and would rate Full Moon a solid 8 out of 10 for quality and consistency.

They also have half-dipped in chocolate, chocolate chip cookies by the six pack at the counter, and I highly recommend them. Check out Full Moon Bar-B-Que¬†at one of it’s many Alabama locations!
