facebook, road trips and BBQ

Here is a great post from Wade Wilson on Our MY BBQ BLOG facebook page. If you are not a friend of ours on facebook…what are you waiting for?

Where was this class when I was in college?

Four Birmingham Southern College students are traveling around the South in a Ford Expedition with a pig snout attached to the front grill, studying barbecue for class credit.

The guys are eating copious amounts of ‘cue and logging all of their tales, trials and tribulations. They departed last week on an 18-day adventure and so far have traveled through Tennessee and North Carolina, visiting places such as The Commissary and Jim Neely’s Barbecue in Memphis. They will make stops in South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, returning to BSC on Jan. 24. Their remaining schedule includes Florence, Lake City and Hemingway, S.C.; Athens and Atlanta, Ga.; Auburn, Tuscaloosa, Jasper and Decatur. The group has a Web site and will blog and post on YouTube regularly. Their academic advisor is a BSC English professor, and the class focuses on food and travel writing, specifically on the idea of how to create meaningful experiences through words, images and other new media. You can take a look at their website at southernbbqboys.com.
