Johnny Mitchell’s Smokehouse – Brad Nevin

Johnny Mitchell’s Smokehouse

I had the pleasure of sampling Johnny Mitchell’s Smokehouse BBQ at the recent SEC Championship game at the GA Dome, here in Atlanta, GA. I am from Tuscaloosa, AL if you don’t already know, and I am a life-long Alabama fan…Bama’s back! Coach Saban has gotten us back on the map in just his second season at the Capstone, and I am really excited for the future of Alabama football…but I digress. So there we are, tailgating down by the Dome with all the old friends from home, sipping beers and having some Q.

Johnny Mitchell’s had their big, mobile smoker on hand churning out pork sandwiches for the masses of Tide fans…this is some solid BBQ, and I believe they specialize in large-order, catering type events. I really like their sauce, and it reminds me of Fox Bros. sauce here in Atlanta…dark and spicy! Their pork is great, and it is one of the best sandwiches around. I would love to see what this group is capable of serving at a big function as far as sides and deserts…I already know the meat is solid. Well, we lost that game 31 – 20 to a really good Florida team, but we hung tough and played them close. Congrats to the 2008 Crimson Tide for an undefeated regular season and a romp over the Auburn Tigers…restoring order in Alabama. Try you some Johnny Mitchell’s Smokehouse BBQ if you get the chance, and Roll Tide!
