Swallow at the Hollow – Roswell, GA

I’ll be honest, when we drove up to Swallow at the Hollow in Roswell, GA, we were intrigued to say the least…it is a really cool place. It’s a big wooden home with a rocking chair front porch and tin roof under the cover of trees, located off a dirt road. Upon entering, some might not believe that good BBQ is served here, but think again…this is some of the best Q I have encountered in a long time.

Up front you notice a big canoe resting about chest level…filled with ice and beer! There are pictures all over the walls, and it feels like a place you went as a kid with your parents on a beach trip or something…but once we settled in, it was on! If I see them, I always have to order the Fried Green Tomatoes since I have never had 2 that were the same…these were solid and served with a ranch sauce. We ordered up some pork plates with sides consisting of baked beans, fries and slaw…good stuff. Their sauce is very good, and complimented the smoke of the pork nicely. We had a couple of Sweetwater 420’s and made a meal of it…this place gets a thumbs up for sure, and I am about ready to go back before too long. Again, don’t let the atmosphere fool you…it’s not your typical BBQ joint, but more of a restaurant. They have live music and a great scene at night time…check it out and you will dig it.

Sounds delicious to me. I’ll have to stop by next time I’m in the area.

The Swallow at the Hollow is a great place to eat and a Roswell, GA, institution. Genuine rustic atmosphere. The food is great – slabs of ribs, pulled pork, giant Texas toast. And huge 22 oz. beers for sharing. Check it out on the weekends, when they have live acoustic music sessions with some of the best Nashville songwriters, nearly all of whom have written a hit song that you will recognize.

Sounds like a great place…reminds me of the old hickory house in Dunwoody!
