Southern Soul BBQ – St. Simons – Ian Marshall

Southern Soul BBQ – St. Simons

WOW….Now, I know everyone has their opinions on Bar-B-Cue and it is kind of like politics….I don’t think everyone is 100% right all of the time, but Southern Soul BBQ on St Simons Island was one of the better all around Q meals I have had in a while. If there are other BBQ restaurants reading this PLEASE NOTE WHAT SOUTHERN SOUL DID RIGHT:

  • Healthy portion of Pork on the sandwich and it was not smothered in sauce (see pic)
  • great atmosphere with outdoor seating
  • very helpful and friendly staff
  • sides are all fantastic and large (hopin’ John was my favorite {black-eyed peas and rice})

Southern Soul BBQSouthern Soul also adds the nice touch of topping your sandwich with pickles and if you like slaw they have it if you request it.

I have to thank fellow BBQ fan and friend Chad Dixon for the recommendation on Southern Soul, and if you ever get a chance to go down to St Simons be sure and stay at the St. Simons Inn. I have stayed there in the past, and it was just like my experience at Southern Soul BBQ…an all around great experience and one I would recommend to others.
