Blowin’ Smoke BBQ, Savannah – Brad Nevin

blowin smoke bbqAs my fellow BBQ Blogger and I rolled in to Savannah, GA on a sunny April afternoon, I knew it was going to be an exciting visit. We were there to catch Widespread Panic at the Johnny Mercer Auditorium and spend as much time as possible walking the streets of this beautiful city. We decided to hoof it to Blowin’ Smoke BBQ, which is a relatively new establishment with some cool things going on. After some oysters, beers and Boat Drinks for the walk, we finally made it to the courtyard entrance of our next target.

I really dig the set up at Blowin’ Smoke…picnic tables outside and we played a few games of Cornhole as we waited on food and sipped beers…they were actually out of the first 3 beers I ordered. Oh well, on to the meat! We ordered the meat sampler platter with onion rings which could have gone over my head and around my neck they were so big. I believe we had some fried pickles too. The ribs were damn good, the pork was so-so and the brisket was decent as well. They premix the sauce with their meat, and I think you should be able to try it as-is and add sauce accordingly…but what do I know, I just eat it and write about it. Overall, Blowin’ Smoke is solid and you can spend an hour or two there just grazing on Q, sipping beers and playing Cornhole…we just so happened to have a couple of hours to burn.

That night we were treated to one of the best Widespread Panic shows I have seen, including the appearance of two rarities…Gimme and Lawyers, Guns and Money! I love Savannah, I love Panic and I love BBQ. I am a simple man, Roll Tide!
